Louis Chenevert was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. He graduated from HEC Montreal with a bachelor degree in production management. He did put the education into practice by starting up a business and becoming a role model in both leadership and business.
Louis Chenevert worked at general motors as a production manager for 14 years. In 1993 he became an employee of Pratt& Whitney, an aircraft engine manufacturer.
Due to the increase in performance in the company, he was made the president for six years. It is from them that he decided to venture into business and in 2006, he became the CEO of UTC.
The company’s function included research and the production of high technology merchandise. Some of these products were refrigerators, air conditioners, and jet engines.
The company required a professional who could have run the business activities and that’s where Louis came in.
While working in UTC, he has made a name and a legacy. He has proved himself a real businessman in the world. The financial status of the company rose with a great margin. He contributed to the increase in the share price with an increase of 200%.
He was acknowledged and given awards. He was bestowed the National Building Museum in 2009. The HEC Montreal endowed him the doctorate honors and was later named the “person of the year”.
Chenevert took a step to take care of the environment. Global warming was and is a serious problem in the world. He made sure that the products he was manufacturing were 100% environmentally friendly.
From this, the greenhouse gases reduced from by 26%. That was a great achievement.
Chenevert also served in many positions. In 2011, 2012, he was the vice-chairman of the Executive committee of the business council.
In 2015, he had a role of being the exclusive advisor in the merchant banking division. The main aim was to target opportunities in industrial and aerospace sectors and other business gaps.
According to an article written by Loren Thompson, the GDP in the technology sector have gradually reduced from the postwar era. This is not the case in UTC due to the good leadership by Chenevert.
